THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE SYLLABUS, PAST PAPERS & NOTES

Past papers are the best way to prepare students for the exam experience. It is also a great tool for gauging your students’ level of understanding and can identify weaker topic areas, helping you target your teaching according to their needs. Conducting prior research is not a way to educate yourself: it is primarily a way to validate your learning. You revise, you do a past paper, and you look at the Mark Scheme to check it. If it’s good, perhaps do another one to be on the safe side. Always look at the Examiners’ Reports because they tell you a huge amount about where students got marks and where they tended to lose them. UK exams are designed to test your understanding, not just your ability to memorize prescribed answers. So it is no good just wanting to know how many past papers you have to practice to have learned all the questions and all the matching answers.
