The Student’s Best Experience at Stanford University

Scott Veach Good Review about Stanford University:-

There are a lot of great things about Stanford. Good resources, and a good pedigree. Great teachers. Smart peers. Being in the MS program for CS is a fairly good way to get involved in the Silicon Valley culture and industry. It isn’t a magic ticket though, but if you’re the kind of person who is ambitious and intelligent about how to be ambitious then you should be able to parlay it into joining some kind of interesting start-up. One caveat to understand is that the MS program in CS is designed to be an income generator for the school. It’s by no means easy to get into but it’s easier than either the undergrad or the PhD program.

Like most everything in life, it is what you make it. I saw people pay their money, get their diplomas, and go join Microsoft. Probably still working there for all I know. And I saw people go above and beyond, network with the right people, do independent research and start their own companies and/or take early positions in companies like Google.

Diksha Bajaj’s review of Stanford University:-

Stanford is dedicated to finding solutions to grand challenges and preparing students to lead in a complex world. is one of the world’s leading research universities. She is known for her entrepreneurial character. Recognizes students with technical ability and strong leadership. The school prioritizes STEM, but values students with a variety of academic interests—this is reflected in the admissions process, in which Stanford places more weight on several short essays found in its supplement. In addition to excellent academics, Stanford is known for its great return on investment and student entrepreneurship.

Gourav Review about Standford University:-

Stanford University is one of the most difficult colleges to get into, with an acceptance rate of only 4%. It is consistently ranked in US News’ top 10—often top five—universities. First and foremost is its academics. Year after year, Stanford ranks among the most difficult colleges to get into, which has cultivated a campus populated with accomplished professors, brilliant students, and an achievement-focused attitude. Granted, Stanford accepts (overall) only 5% of the applicants. However, only 25% of the overall application (which is Required) is proving to Stanford that you can attend Stanford, do well in a major, and graduate within four years.

Christopher Ben Review about Stanford University:-

Being a student at Stanford University is such a great experience, they are high achievers, and I enjoy an unusual degree of academic freedom.

Anneka Gupta Review Stanford University:-

I met amazing, smart, and down-to-earth people who have become my closest friends. I feel like I have a strong network of people that not only will yield interesting career prospects down the road but also provide a diverse social circle. Oh, and I got an amazing education.

Yeong Kwok Review Stanford University:-

I majored in biology and was pre-med. Pre-meds are typically considered the most competitive and cut-throat students in undergrad due to the high pressure to get good grades to get into med school. I never felt a sense of competition from my fellow students. There was good camaraderie and mutual support during difficult study sessions in physics and organic chemistry.

The Student’s Dark Side Experience at Stanford University

Sue Kayton Review about the Dark Side experience at Stanford University:-

  • It lacks the administrative flexibility that people expect from an expensive private school. They make it hard to customize a major. Impossible to change roommates. A friend’s son took medical leave for a semester, then wanted to return part-time to help adjust back to school before returning full-time to finish his degree. Stanford said no – he had to return full-time or not at all. I could go on and on.
  • Housing in the area is ridiculously expensive, making it almost impossible to afford to live in the area if you want to live off-campus or stay in the area after graduation
  • The campus is very isolated. You can’t walk to anything. You will need a bike or a car, or use the school shuttle system
  • Some of their traditions are very odd – like running around naked during the full moon during first semester of freshman year.

Barbara Vincent reviews about the dark side experience at Stanford University:-

  • Stanford is very white and very elite. The students there tend to be very insulated and self-centered. My son is an ordinary, middle-class kid who actually cares about others and about the world he lives in, and he was appalled by the number of students who didn’t give a shit about anything about themselves.

Rick Table reviews the dark side experience at Stanford University:-

 (PhD Student at Stanford University)

The campus is enormous, and not walkable. You need a bike or a car to get around. Not that close to a major city and hard to get to. You have to drive everywhere. The area is very expensive. The campus is in a bubble, with no interaction with the real world or the surrounding community. You never see non-students or community people. There is no nightlife or traditional college campus environment. No real college town. Getting to San Francisco is difficult and far.
